Pining...thou not my style, it 'consumed my better sense'. I like the title, Pining. Scarcely used term but you can't convey its meaning with any other word. Way to go, Aparna.

Aparna captures the essence of separation and yearning beautifully.
My interpretation of the poem was that there's both physical and emotional separation.

As it happens with most of the people, they come to a land of their dreams with lots of hopes and promises. Poetess has described it in beautiful words how she came to a new land with stars in her eyes and for some time stayed euphorically happy to get what she pined for until one day her very own(warm hand) betrayed her in someway(cold) or the other , which brought her down from the dreamy-floating state to earth!
