10 year old Maya Mehta finds it difficult to read and write; she has no friends, and no interests except drawing. Maya lives with her father, sister, and Ramji in New Delhi.

Fa Fa Koten the Indian witch also lives in New Delhi in a jungle not far away from Maya’s home. The bungling witch creates the dream through which Maya meets her beloved horse, Flower. Her deep friendship with the horse helps Maya find the real person hiding behind all her fears.
