| Is Words a publishing house? |
| No. Words is not a publishing house. Words is just a facilitator to enable authors to publish their work through our portal by providing them help in the whole process of publishing a book from start to finish. |
| How is Words different from a traditional publishing house? |
Unlike traditional publishing houses, we do not shortlist books for publication. We allow authors to publish anything unless it contains objectionable content relating to caste, race, sex, religion or defamation.
Traditional publishing houses publish a book only after assessing the marketability and salability of a book (i.e. will it sell so many copies?). However, we print books on demand and hence have zero inventory. |
| What is 'Print on Demand' technology? How many copies need to be ordered by a customer? |
| ‘Print on Demand’ essentially means what it says. We don’t pile up inventory of books. Each book is kept in an electronic format and printed only when ordered by a customer. Print copy (Hardbook) is delivered in Paperback format. However, authors may choose to sell their books in e-book format as well. |
| Is there a legal agreement that an author has to abide by while publishing with Serene Woods? |

| How much does it cost to use Words? |
| Nothing! You do not need to subscribe to the website to access all parts of it. The author is only charged for the additional Serviceshe/she uses at Words.The reader pays for buying a piece of work (hard book or e-book, as applicable). |
| Does the author keep his rights over his content at Words? |
| Yes. The author keeps all the rights over his content. We hold no responsibility for the content of his book. |
| How can I copyright my book through Words? |
| Please see Copyrighting under the Servicessection for details. |
| Do you provide ISBN for each book? |
| Yes. Each book that is published on Serene Woods will carry an ISBN which is free of charge. |
| Can I use Words in conjunction with any other publishing house? |
| We do not restrict authors from using the services of any other publishing house. However, it is important that the author informs Serene Woods of any other tie-up. Please refer to the Member Agreementfor more. |
| How do you market and distribute a book? |
| At the moment, we feature your book on our home page under the ‘New books’ section and also notify members through e-mails and postings on the Facebook and Orkut community. We are trying to work out tie-ups with bookstores to market the book. If you have any suggestions, please do contact us at contact@serenewoods.comfor the same. |
| How is a book priced? |
The price of the book consists of two parts.

| How much does the author earn on the sale of his book? |

| How does money get transferred to the author for his book sales? |
| Every month we will do a bank transfer to the author subject to minimum earnings of Rs. 500 a month. |
